Just checking out your website. My grandfather Charles Glover Gedney was a member of the Rye Fire Dept back in the early 1900s, not sure of exact dates. I still have his uniform and badge. A relative of his- Alfred Gedney was the first professional fire fighter in the Department. Great history. Mark Cowan

Great web page! Lots of memories, thanks. I started as a volunteer with Milton back in 73 and moved on to a professional firefighting career in Florida but I'll never forgot the brotherhood and friendships forged from those times. It was great to see myself in a few of your posted photos.I'm the one with thr beard. The picture of the frozen ladder truck was from a fire in Portchester and we had to drive the ladder home with them sticking out the back.. That was funny…..

I wanted to say Thank You to all the guys that were on call today. My car broke down, and every firetruck that passed stop to ask if their was anything they could do to help. While I was waiting for a Towtruck to come, one of your guys stopped and put flares down for me. It didn't occur to me at the time to ask his name, but hopefully he will see this as well as the others that asked if they could help me. Thanks Again!
